You do. Zinglewaga online storage is just temporary storage to allow our service to create photo albums for you. We will never share, sell or do anything else with your digital memories. They are yours.

How are our kids' names used when we share Zingles?

The names are just used to collate your memories into albums for each kid. We would never share the names of your kids with anyone.

How are our kids' birth dates used when we share Zingles?

The date of birth is optional. It is only used in photo albums to indicate the age of your kid in each photo. We would never share the birth dates of your kids with anyone.

Photo App FAQ

Can I use other photo apps like Camera+, Instagram and 8mm Vintage Camera with Zinglewaga?

Absolutely! We love using other camera apps to take photos and video for Zinglewaga. Just save any photos or video to the Photo Library on your device and you can select them when creating a new Zingle. Experiment with different filters, borders and effects to give your albums that personal touch!

How many kids can I create?

As many as you dare!

How can mom, dad and kids all contribute to the family albums?

Install Zinglewaga on mom's and dad's iPhones and the kids' iPod touches and sign them all in to the same Zinglewaga account. You only need to buy 1 subscription. Our favourite Zingles are the ones where our kids sneak off and create their own!

What is the difference between Save and Upload when creating Zingles?

Think of it like email. You can create a Zingle with a photo, 'Save' as draft, and come back later and get your kids to record a voice caption. Zingles will not be included into albums until you 'Upload' them.

Why is there a number in a red circle on the Zingles button?

This tells you how many Zingles you have waiting to share. If you don't have an internet connection when you choose to share a Zingle, it will go into your 'outbox'. When you have an internet connection, you can tap the retry button

I tapped share but there are still some Zingles in my outbox?

If some Zingles fail to upload, tap Retry to try and upload them again.

I tapped 'Share' and then requested an album but my album was empty?

Make sure you have not left your Zingles in draft mode. You need to share them to your Zinglewaga albums.

I tried to share a video Zingle but it's still in my outbox?

Video Zingles will only upload when you have a WiFi connection.

I shared a Zingle then deleted it from my phone. Will it still appear in my albums?

Yes, once you've uploaded a Zingle it will appear. Like email once it's sent it's sent. However :-), you can sign in to the Zinglewaga website and delete your uploaded Zingles! Uploaded Zingles »

I want to create a Zingle that has both my kids in but I can only choose one kid?

Yep, to keep it simple it's one kid per Zingle. However, a kid can be anything you want. We have a kid called 'Family' for Zingles that include more than one kid.

I want to create a photo album which just contains Zingles for a particular event?

There are two ways to do that. You can create a Kid for the event e.g. 'Whistler trip', or you can sign in to the Zinglewaga website and create an album with Zingles in a date range. Create Album »

Why can't I share my Zingles on social networking sites?

This is something we'll consider going forward if there is a demand. However, we built Zinglewaga primarily to allow parents to capture private moments for themselves and their kids.

Photo Albums FAQ

What is a Zinglewaga photo album?

A Zinglewaga photo album is an electronic book (eBook) that contains your photos, video and audio recordings. Because an album is just a single file it's easy to copy, backup, and share with family. It also means that when you download your album you get ALL your goodies. They're not stuck up on a website somewhere getting lost in the expanse of time!

How do I get a Zinglewaga photo album?

Use the Zinglewaga app to share Zingles. Each month Zinglewaga will send you an email which contains a link which you can click to download your album.

How can I view a Zinglewaga photo album?

You can view a photo album in the iBooks book reader app by Apple on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.

What if I want to see an album now?

You can request an album for a kid from within the iPhone app using the Requests button. You will receive an email when the album is ready.

If I request an album will I still get the normal monthly album?

Yes, we always automatically send you an album every month which contains all the Zingles for the last month.

How can I share an album?

Just forward the email you receive when your new album is ready. The email contains two ways to download the album. The first link is a secure encrypted link that will only work for 7 days, but anyone who has the link/email can download the album. The second link in the email requires you to provide your Zinglewaga username and password.

Why can't I view my albums in other eBook readers?

Not many eBook readers can currently play audio and video embedded in eBooks. We use a standard eBook format called EPUB that many eBook readers support. This format is currently evolving and we expect that many more reader applications will be able to play books with audio and video in the coming year.

Will I still be able to view my albums in 10 years time?

The eBook format we use has lots of backing from heavyweights in the publishing industry. The electronic book market is growing and vibrant. People are spending LOTS of money buying books that use the same format as Zinglewaga photo albums, so we expect the format to be around for a long time. However, the beauty of the book format we use is that it is just a big zip file. So if the time came when the format was no longer used, you can still extract all the photos, video and voice recordings using a file archiving tool like WinZip.

Why doesn't Zinglewaga come with an app to view albums?

We want you to be able to view Zinglewaga albums on as many different devices as possible including smart phones, tablets, PCs and Macs. By using a standard electronic book format we believe we'll be able to achieve that goal much more readily because many companies are already building eBook readers for all those devices.

iBooks FAQ

Can I use iTunes to sync albums from my computer?

You can use iTunes to sync your albums from your computer to your iPad/iPhone.

First download the album epub file to your computer.
Next, open iTunes on the computer you sync your iPad to. Drag the epub file into the iTunes library.
Connect your iPad and click on it in the iTunes devices list. You'll want to click on the Books tab, and then make sure that books are being synced. You can choose to sync all books, or just select what books you want to sync. Either way your album should now appear in the list.
Then press the Sync button and let iTunes do its thing. When its done, iBooks should display a new book - your album - on its bookshelf.

Note, iTunes will only sync your albums from your computer to your iPad/iPhone - not the other way around (see below)

Voice recordings do not play properly when I flip pages in iBooks?

Some users have reported problems playing audio in Zinglewaga albums on the iPad 2. This seems to affect all enhanced books in the iBookstore, not just Zinglewaga photo albums. We've reported it to Apple and their response was that we should use iTunes to sync the books/albums rather than downloading directly to the iPad/iPhone. (see above FAQ for how)

When I sync using iTunes will my albums be backed up to my computer?

No, unfortunately not. For some reason, iTunes will only backup books downloaded from the iBookstore. It will not backup other books downloaded from the internet. That's why we recommend you always download your album to your computer as well, and back it up with your other important files.

Pricing FAQ

What is a Zinglewaga Photo Albums subscription?

A Zinglewaga Photo Albums subscription is available as an in app purchase within the Zinglewaga iOS app. It allows you to share Zingles from multiple devices to Zinglewaga online storage. Once they are shared, Zinglewaga will automatically create a photo album for each kid every month which you can download to your device. You must purchase a Photo Albums subscription in order to create photo albums after your trial period is over.

Can I use the Zinglewaga app on my device without a subscription?

Yes, you can continue to create Zingles and look and listen to them on your device even if you do not have a Photo Albums subscription.

Why do you charge for Zinglewaga photo albums?

In order to automatically generate your photo albums we have to run a computer on the internet where you can upload and store your Zingles, keep them secure and where we can run our software that creates the albums.

What is the purpose of the online storage that comes with a photo albums subscription?

This is just intended to allow you to share Zingles so we can create photo albums for you. After an album has been created we expect you to download it to your computer or device and then it's yours to keep forever. Zinglewaga is not intended to be a long term storage solution for your photos or albums. We recommend that you back up your albums with your other important data. Our preference is to use an online automated backup solution.

How long do you store our data for online?

We may delete the online copy of your albums and Zingles 1 month after an album containing those Zingles has been created. This should give you plenty of time to download your albums. This policy allows us to keep our costs down and our subscription fees low which means we can offer you a much better service! As described above, Zinglewaga storage is not intended as long term storage for you photos and albums. We think you'd much rather get your albums and manage them yourself.
